threading vs eyebrow waxingIt goes without saying that brows are one of the biggest trends in beauty right now. While we used to groom them privately in our bathrooms with a pair of tweezers, recent years have seen other methods and techniques take the lead. Brow bars are everywhere; but what method of removal will suit you? Are you likely to get the result you want from eyebrow waxing or is eyebrow threading better choice?

Threading vs Eyebrow Waxing, Which Is Best? This method of hair removal is an ancient Indian technique that involves a therapist using a cotton thread and a little tension to create a ‘lasso’ that can loop around individual hairs and remove them quickly and precisely from the follicle.

The benefits of threading, over other hair removal techniques, is that it’s faster than plucking, can grab even the shortest hairs, and allows the therapist to create a natural, clean finish.

However, don’t be surprised if you develop the uncontrollable urge to sneeze mid-treatment or if your eyes water during while you’re being threaded. The eye watering isn’t necessarily to do with pain, just a reaction to all that activity around the eyes.

Results last between three and four weeks depending on hair growth.

Waxing Pros & Cons:

Like threading, waxing is a very quick method of hair removal. Not dissimilar to waxing on other areas of the body, wax is applied to the unwanted hair, a strip is pressed over the top and it’s quickly snatched out of the follicles.

The benefits of waxing are that it’s quick and the finish gives sharp, clean lines. If you have fluffy brows it’s a great option to get blanket coverage and likewise if your hairs are coarse waxing can be a less painful choice than having each individual hair threaded.

On the downside there is the sensitivity issue. If you are prone to redness or reactions waxing may not be the best choice as it pulls at the skin, not just the hairs.

Results last up to six weeks.
